Redefining the Biblical Jesus, reading verses out of context, loading biblical language with new age and occult definitions...this is the Kingdom of the Cults. Biblical theology, when turned upside down and inside out, becomes everything but the truth.
Spiritual Research Network COASTAL CULT WATCH monitors and warns of religious groups, movements and teachings that re-define the Person and Work of the Biblical Jesus Christ into what it is not.
While trying to explain who Jesus is, what Jesus taught, and who Jesus claimed to be, cults deviate sharply from biblical theology. As a result, they undermine the historic definition of Jesus Christ. In doing so, they pervert the biblical Gospel message. This is a very powerful form of deception and it has eternal consequences!
Listed below are a number of spiritual belief systems in San Luis Obispo County (and beyond) that are recognized as non-Christian cults. They are recognized as such because they employ cultic and/or, occult interpretations of Jesus and the Bible.
They are considered to be abusive in nature because while they claim to give a proper interpretation of the Person and Work of Jesus Christ, they actually re-define Him and His work into something far outside of what the biblical text and the historic Christian faith have taught for the last two thousand years.
It must be remembered that re-defining biblical terminology is what all cults do, either willfully, or ignorantly, by misled practitioners and followers.
These groups, along with many other cults and ism's, generally do one or more of the following in their perversion of the biblical text:
-
Add to the Word of God.
-
Subtract from the Deity of Jesus Christ.
-
Multiply the requirements for salvation, and
-
Divide a followers loyalty to God.
As a result of all of these things, members of cults, cultic churches, and occult groups generally experience a myriad of theological, psychological, and sociological problems.
Sadly, many sincere and well intentioned leaders and followers within these groups do not recognize what they have been subjected to. The reason for this is that leaders and followers are simply employing methods that are built into the organization itself.
