"There is no literal hell. The Bible is full of errors. The virgin birth of Christ is a myth. Jesus did not rise bodily from the grave. Jesus is not God!"

So the reasoning of Liberal Christianity goes!

Liberal Christianity, otherwise known as progressive Christianity - or Liberalism within a modern Christian context, is an ongoing movement that has clearly departed from traditional Christian orthodoxy. Liberal scholars, oftentimes trying to be politically correct, seek to harmonize biblical teachings with science, humanism, other secular fields, and even other religions.

What inevitably follows, in the name of ‘scholarship’ and ‘the wideness of salvation’ [Robert Schuller, etc.], is an outright rejection of at least one or more of the fundamental teachings of the historic Christian faith. This downhill slide generally begins with the outright rejection of biblical inspiration and innerrancy. Essential bible doctrines such as the triune nature of the Godhead, the deity of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Birth, Christ’s bodily resurrection, the authority of Scripture, and salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone are passed off as being narrow minded and too ‘fundamental’. Liberal Christianity has so much 'diversity of opinion' that all but biblically sound 'doctrines' are accepted.

This ‘diversity of opinion’ as a central characteristic of Liberal Christianity makes it is difficult to define Liberal Christianity with great precision. Liberal Christianity, found within many denominations throughout the Christendom, continues to ravage the faith of the undiscerning across the globe. It must be noted that Liberal Christianity is often described as ‘Modernism’. It might be better to say that Modernism is a movement within Liberal Christianity, as not all Liberal Christians would consider themselves to be ‘Modernists’. The Emerging Church movement, with its blatant undermining of the authority of the Bible, is just one aspect of 21st century Liberal Christianity.

But what does the Bible say?

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him". (John 14:6-7)

Liberal Christiantiy in all its deceptive disguises is outside the parameter of sound biblical theology. Because of this, any denomination or church where Liberal Christianity spreads is subject to its leavening, numbing and damning effects. Simply put, Liberal Christianity is lethal to sound biblical theology, the historic Christian faith and personal faith in the risen and living Lord Jesus Christ.

God has given mankind His Word to lead people to salvation through Christ and protect people from evil. Sadly, many people who profess to be Liberal Christians not only undermine the Word of God, but they proceed to destroy the true salvation message of the Bible. Rejecting the inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture and then proceeding to reject salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone surely has eternal consequences.

Jesus prayed, “...Holy Father...I have given them thy word... Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:14-17)
